"Yer Outta Here!" Communication Lessons from Baseball Umpires
Wednesday August 13, 2025 2:00pm - 2:30pm MDT
When we think of excellent communicators, we probably don't think of the people yelling "Stee-rike!" behind home plate. Ironically, baseball umpires take communication incredibly seriously and offer us excellent lessons we can use at work and in the classroom. In this infobyte, you will learn from a real-life baseball umpire about how umpires consider perspective, audience, and discretion when managing the ball field. You may even have an opportunity to call strike three yourself! (No prior knowledge of baseball required.)

This roundtable-style infobite would allow for employees to ask our personal trainers questions, and will provide participants short workouts or ways to incorporate fitness into their daily schedule. With a fully-equipped fitness center on our Centennial Campus, and a satellite gym in the works at our Rampart Campus, this infobite will help get the word out about what staff members need to do to become gym members, and give them the knowledge and confidence needed to take control of their personal fitness journey, with the help of our Recreation and Wellness Department!
